Barbour

Integrated Christmas campaign.

The Snowman and The Snowdog™.

Challenge

Barbour has a wide range of products that are perfect for gifting, from gloves and knitwear to wax jackets. They asked us to create a campaign that tells a story of gifting in an original way that only they could. It needed to feature products, drive engagement and most importantly, create an emotional connection with their audience.

Idea

Working closely with the team at Barbour, we decided to retell Raymond Briggs’s iconic The Snowman and The Snowdog™ story, where Billy receives a gift he’ll always remember (his dog comes to life)! 

We storyboarded a new film that featured a grown-up Billy and his dog, thinking back to the moment when they first met. Working closely with Penguin Books and Lupus Films (who created the original animation) our storyboard came to life in the original animation style. 

The campaign, which featured a range of bespoke illustrations for Barbour, was then rolled-out in-store, online and across social, from hero window displays to a ‘win a gift your loved-one will always remember’ competition.

The results were incredible:

The film had over 2.5 million views.

The campaign achieved over 212 million impressions.

It was voted in The Guardian's and Telegraph's top five Christmas ads.

It generated an amazing level of free PR.

Close to 34,000 new followers across social channels.

As you can imagine - it was a very Happy Christmas for Barbour.
