1. What is a typical day like for you?
There is literally no such thing as a typical day; there is always something new happening, that’s part of what’s great about agency life and TJ in particular. There is always the day to day tasks that need looking after, but one day I can be sitting in the office hidden away trying to wrestle through a brand proposition and the next day I will be running a workshop or flying off to Berlin (or somewhere else) for a meeting with a new client that needs some help and advice.
2. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given – professionally or personally?
That’s a tough one. Professionally I’ve had a few mentors that have influenced me and continue to do so, they have given me some great advice that I use every day, and there are so many good thoughts I don’t think that there is one particular thing that stands out.
Personally; Everybody’s free to wear sunscreen – (Google is your friend).
3. Do you have any favourite brands?
Way too many to mention and it changes daily… maybe there is something in that.
4. If you could work with any brand, what would it be?
I have been lucky to work on some amazing brands in my career to date. If I’m honest, I get as excited about creating a new to the world inspirational start up brand as I would working with Johnny Walker or Coca Cola.
For me it’s all about the actual challenge and making a difference. If there is any vanity involved in terms of brands I would love to work on, then it’s that.
5. What keeps you at the top of your game?
Its corny but I love what I do and I am insatiably curious about people and how they think. I get constant inspiration from anywhere, I read all the time, and listen to podcasts from people that I rate.
It started through a fear of not being informed, now it’s much more than that. I love to read about all the cool things that people are doing.
6. What resources do you use to stay up to date?
Books old and new, podcasts, newsletters (though less so at the moment), blogs, my team, my colleagues. Even my dad sent me an article that he thought I would be interested in the other day.
7. Do you have a particular career highlight
A few- I’ve got an ego, so winning awards is always good. That being said, I believe the best is yet to come.
8. What is the most exciting aspect of your role at TJ?
Working with an incredible team and learning something new every day… that’s two, but equally as important.
9. Do you have a motto?
10. What do you like to do when you’re not working?
Sad but true, its all about my kids at the moment. I’m the biggest softy now I’ve become a parent.
11. What’s your Thinking Juice?
Coffee, hands down. I’m a self-confessed caffeine junkie… but of course there is nothing that competes with a nice cold beer.
