After a year of hard work, we’re excited to announce the launch of the latest #BarbourChristmas film. It’s been great working alongside the team at Barbour, Lupus Films and Penguin Ventures to produce the next magical chapter in the Snowman story. Find out what ‘The Drum’ had to say in their latest article, below.

Barbour is continuing its Christmas tie-up with Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman and The Snowdog for a second year, offering viewers a further glimpse into the life of Billy, who has grown up since he first appeared on screen in 1982.

The original animation entitled ‘The Story Continues’ shows Billy enjoying the Christmas season with his wife, daughter and now elderly dog, who was once a puppy in The Snowdog. On 25 December, the family are opening presents when a knock at the door announces the arrival of The Snowman, who’s given a gift of – what else? – a Barbour jacket.

The film ends as Billy’s sub-zero friend tries on his new apparel. The line reads: ‘Gifts they’ll always remember’. The creative was developed in partnership with Snowman Enterprises and Penguin Ventures. Barbour’s social Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube channels will promote the campaign using the hashtag #BarbourChristmas, while blog content inspired by the film will feature throughout November and December on the brand’s website.

Barbour’s shops will also promote the campaign in-store. A limited edition The Snowman and The Snowdog pin, which is seen in the film, will be given away with every Barbour purchase.

“It has been exciting to work with Snowman Enterprises to create this beautiful Barbour interpretation of the next chapter for Billy, something that has never been done before.

By combining original footage from The Snowman and The Snowdog animation alongside 45 seconds of new footage and introducing family characters, we’ve created a magical film that recreates the nostalgia of childhood, the joy of giving at Christmas and that special feeling of spending time with friends or relatives you may not have seen for a long time.”

Paul Wilkinson, global marketing director for Barbour

Adam Jackson-Nocher, Production Manager at Lupus Films, added:

“Lupus Films are always delighted to help expand the world of The Snowman and The Snowdog, and it was a pleasure to work alongside Barbour and Thinking Juice again to produce the upcoming Christmas campaign. It’s great to see iconic brands like Barbour supporting traditional animation in the UK and engaging with classic British storytelling, and we hope the audience enjoy watching the film as much as we have enjoyed making it!”
